PMT aims to promote Filipino tourism destinations while helping local tour operators and local businesses recover from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic by encouraging more motorcycle enthusiasts to engage in motorsport tourism activities as a potential niche market.

“We are pushing our boundaries to find safer and more creative ways to position the tourism industry and everyone in need of their path to recovery. PMT showcases the interesting cultural and cultural sites, shops, restaurants and other tourist products across the country that Filipinos can discover on two wheels, ”said Maria Anthonette Velasco-Allones, TPB's Chief Operating Officer.

To officially launch the program, TPB is hosting a hybrid webinar on November 19th to encourage motorcyclist communities and influencers to promote the Philippines as a fun and safe destination while promoting road travel. TPB will invite experts and motorcycle enthusiasts to share their knowledge and practical experience on Defensive Driving, Group Riding Etiquette and Safety Riding.

Part of the campaign is also the PMT Ride and Tours event from November 20 to 21, which will be attended by around 250 motorcycle enthusiasts and will start in Rizal Park in Manila. TPB initiated this micro-trip in identified destinations in Luzon in cooperation with the Department of Tourism (DOT) Region IV-A (CALABARZON).

Drivers will cover approximately 850-980 kilometers for two days on a pre-established route through Manila, Rizal, Laguna, Quezon, Batangas and Cavite as they explore several interesting pit stops and share the beauty of the country on two wheels with the public.

As part of this campaign, PMT is also supporting driver events to be held this year in central Luzon and Mindanao: the motorcycle tour in Tarlac and Nueva Ecija from October 21-22, organized by DOT Region III in support of the PMT program; the Halal Foods Rediscovery motorcycle ride, which highlights the promotion of Halal foods and facilities; the 10th Mindanao Freedom Ride from November 5th to 12th, led by Norminring Motorcycles.

"We hope that through these activities we will restore the traveling public's confidence to travel domestically and that the tourism industry will eventually recover from the negative effects of the pandemic crisis," added Allones.
